Android Enterprise seeks UEM Features

Android 10 is coming along with another release. Known before as Android for work is now coming in the shape of Android Enterprise. Enterprise mobility management will only be possible now using the features.

Previously UEM was using APIs installed along with the regular Android systems. It resulted in numerous discrepancies and dents. Hence, as a measure of preventing these issues, Google issued APIs for Android gadgets. The manufacturer did not matter in that case. Such optimization of the process brought a couple of perks. Google Play Store and personal profiles witnessed improvement. Let’s take a closer look at the setup model types and profiles.

BYOD stands for bringing your own device. The idea of this model is that a gadget is not in control of a company. A special containerized space is designed for files and apps. The personal environment remains untouched while the control of the work file belongs to a company still.

COPE represents the opposite idea to BYOD. The mastering of the device is on the work profile. It is a hybrid model. While being company owned it is enabled personally.

The main principle applied to both model types is dividing the work life and private life. All the messages, apps, any type of personal data on the device are separated.

For the devices that need to be company-owned only the configuration COBO was designed. It eliminates the personal space, the company has total control of the space on the device.

COSU mode is designed for single use. From the CO abbreviation, we understand that it is company-owned, but only specific functions are unlocked.

The presented range of models was designed in order to distribute control functions differently. The user is enabled to select the model that fits certain purposes. It also enabled the team to carry on working on the personal use devices, remaining the company in control.

Working Out Security Issues

UEM is definitely contributing to convenience and functionality by simplifying Android management. No doubt that the feature is useful and vital. However, the security aspect has not been improved at all.

The risk of having the data of corporation exposed is preserved with every model proposed. Some apps seem to present an environmental hazard. Although writing a distinct line in work and life spheres on the device is important, it is only beneficial privacy-wise. The security aspect remains vulnerable.

Android Enterprise has now faced an issue with weak security guarantees. The apps downloaded from the store carry an immense and unpredictable threat to the information on the corporate-owned device. There is still a risk of screen loggers and other malicious software.

UEM Plans for Future

After establishing quality management systems, Android Enterprise is going to look into enhancing the security gate on the devices. Also, seamless updates will be considered.

The end result should offer a thorough estimation of apps and detailed reports, mechanisms of blocking certain apps, and more

Android Enterprise has invested a good effort into effective device management solutions. Like many other devices, the security issue was not taken into consideration due to multiple reasons. Without fixing that flaw the use of UEM is losing its value greatly. The users will not sign up for effective management that jeopardizes the security of corporate data.
