Today we’ll discuss the long-awaited new product from Honor. The line is traditionally updated once a year and has very good features for the price. At least in the past it’s been like this. This time the smartphone is released amid trying times, but given the mood of the company, which I have personally encountered, they have a chance of success. Now the information has arrived on the release date and specs of the new Honor 30 and Honor 30 Pro. Let’s discuss them.
When will the Honor 30 Pro be released?
This might be considered a leak, but it’s too big to be. The information appeared on the Weibo social network, and Chinese actor Li Xian shared it. He posted a photograph of himself, a smartphone, the name of the Honor 30 smartphone and the date of April 15th.
From this, it’s clear the smartphone will be presented on this day, one day after the launch of OnePlus 8.
Sometimes this kind of information is a leak, for example, when the author was mistaken and posted it ahead of time. But there are cases when companies announce the release of their smartphones early on purpose. Especially when China will be the main market. It’s better to take advantage of popular actors in this country and promote the product through their social networks.
Characteristics of Honor 30 Pro
Unfortunately, it’s not clear from the photograph what the smartphone will look like, since it’s almost completely covered by hands. Only its color and a small part of the cover are visible.
Based on this, we can say for sure the smartphone will be made of glass and metal, like the recently released Huawei P40. Most likely, the new product’s shape will also be similar, since the part of the case we can see looks very much like the same part of the flagship from Huawei.
The color in the photo has pink-purple hues. This suggests the company is staying true to their idea of gradients widely used in their smartphones. In addition, we can say the color will be approximately the same as Huawei P40, which uses frosted glass. Thanks to the processing of the back wall the color changes and the body at a certain angle seems to be concave. This can’t be seen in the photo but in reality it looks very interesting.
Given the position of the Honor 30 and Honor 30 Pro in the line, we can safely assume it will work under the control of the top Kirin 990 processor with support for fifth-generation networks (5G).
The camera should also top-notch. Most likely, they won’t receive a module from Huawei P40 Pro Plus, but simpler modules of this family are provided. This means almost certainly we will see a 50-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX700 sensor. A key feature of this sensor is the ability to group pixels on a 4-in-1 basis. This achieves a total pixel size of 2.24 microns. Simply put, this much better than competitors and the pixel size is perhaps the most important indicator.
It’s unlikely the main modules of the Honor 30 and Honor 30 Pro will be very different, but the number of additional modules will definitely be different. The lighter model won’t be equipped with some of the older software and hardware exclusives. Both will definitely be large phones.
There’s no doubt the front camera will be placed in the cutout of the screen. The company has been using this solution for a long time and are unlikely to move away from it. It’s too early to talk about the characteristics of the sensor, but the version with the module from Huawei P40 with a resolution of 32 megapixels looks the most likely.
New Honor Phones
In preparation for the launch of the Huawei P40 and its older versions, the company launched the Huawei P40 Lite. This makes sense as few doubted the release of a full-fledged P40 and the decision was no secret. The launch of the “light” version isn’t unique, but it’s acceptable.
So Honor has already presented the 30S. They traditionally designate a more affordable version of the flagship. This time it was released a little earlier.
The Honor 30S, as we expect, supports 5G but works on the Kirin 820. It has a 6.5-inch IPS screen with a Full HD + Resolution. The front camera is located at the top of the screen and the back has 4 sensors using 2 megapixels to 64 megapixels. Fast charging is supported, but Google services aren’t. The cost of new items in version 8/256 GB is $380. Not so cheap.
Should I buy Huawei and Honor phones?
The answer to this question is very simple. If you don’t install applications very often and you don’t use Google services, then it’s definitely worth it.
Many important applications in the AppGallery store are already there. The rest can be installed from the APK. This isn’t complicated at all.
Huawei and Honor are still very good from a technical point of view. These are advanced smartphones. The lack of support for Google isn’t ideal, but given the interest in the Chinese company and its capabilities, it can create services on its own. They already develop office applications and even a voice assistant. Let’s see what will happen next.
